Why did you decide to attend East Carolina University?
I decided to attend East Carolina University because the MPH program offers a wide variety of diverse activities, including all the coursework, the professional paper, and the public health internship. I knew that such activities would allow me to have positive experiences and frequent communication with health professionals who would enhance my development as a leader in Public Health.
What do you appreciate most about your ECU education?
Pursing my MPH while holding a full-time supervisory position has been challenging, so I am most appreciative for the flexibility of staff and faculty members. They have adjusted to provide feedback and present opportunities essential to my personal and professional growth. I also appreciated the opportunity to complete my internship at the Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina to re-work the Girls Empowerment Program, to increase self-efficacy and reduce risk of dating violence among adolescent girls.
What are your career ambitions?
I hope to contribute to the well-being of women and children by organizing a non-profit dedicated to women with an emphasis on increasing self-efficacy among adolescent girls. It is my goal to organize a non-profit organization to help overcome the barriers to adequate health care and services in rural and lower socioeconomic areas.
