MPH Internship Profiles – Desiree Wynn
Concentration: Health Behavior
Field Placement Site:Â ECU Health, Community Health Improvement
Majority of my time was spent at the Medical Food Pantry, a collaborative initiative between ECU Health, Brody School of Medicine and the Food Bank of ENC. The main priority for the food pantry is to serve food insecure patients’ healthy food to help them with their diagnosis. Part of that goal was to build partnerships with other clinics as well as stakeholders that could provide operational support considering it runs off donations and volunteers. I was able to do just that. We developed a plan that out lined current and potential partners as well as outpatient clinics that we hope to expand to. I also did patient education with all those I served.
Overall, I was emerged into an atmosphere where I could learn program management and development solely through hands on experiences.
