Pokhrel Elected as Council Member for National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC)

Dr. Lok Pokhrel, assistant professor in the Department of Public Health, has been elected as a Council Member for the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC)! He will serve in this role for a three-year term (2021-2024). Dr. Pokhrel was selected from an outstanding group of environmental health professionals that participated in the election.

Established in 1967, EHAC’s mission is to enhance the education and training of students in environmental health science and protection. The EHAC Council develops and applies accreditation guidelines for institutions of higher education that wish to ensure premium quality education and training of environmental health science and protection practitioners. Throughout its history, the Council has consistently worked to upgrade the quality of education and training delivered by the programs it accredits. EHAC accreditation criteria are focused on core sciences and other framework requirements (i.e., internships, lab experiences, and community advisory committees) that form a comprehensive learning experience designed to produce competent environmental health graduates who are well prepared to respond to a variety of environmental health challenges.
