MPH Internship Profiles – Justine Olegario

Concentration: Epidemiology

Field Placement Site: ECU Health Corporate Community Health Improvement Department and ECU Health Duplin Hospital

The internship experience was extremely fulfilling. I was able to see how data collected and analyzed by epidemiologists is applied directly to planning intervention methods and programs. My preceptors allowed me to sit in on several meetings where data from Health ENC and other sources were used to highlight different health priorities throughout eastern North Carolina and gave me the chance to participate in these meetings as well. It was an incredible experience that I am thankful for.
