CEPH 14. Advocate for political, social, or economic policies and programs that will improve health in diverse populationsI will create a research brief for use in an advocacy campaign, highlighting original research on how measle trends in State X align with historical state policies to promote or limit measles prevention and control.

I will use the research brief to advocate for improvements to the State X policy, engaging a policymaker to support evidence-informed decision-making.
My evaluation of (1) the current State X level measle-related policies (CEPH 15) and (2) published, peer-reviewed epidemiologic studies on measles, particularly those focused on State X (EPI 2) will inform the evidence-based improvements to the policy I propose in the research brief.
EPI 2. Critique an epidemiology study for its validityI will evaluate published, peer-reviewed epidemiologic studies on measles, particularly those focused on State X.

In my summary, I will identify threats to previous studies’ validity (e.g., information bias, selection bias, confounding) in an effort to present the most unbiased review of the degree to which measles has emerged as a serious public health problem overall and in State X.
My evaluation of published, peer-reviewed epidemiologic studies on measles, particularly those focused on State X, will be summarized in the research brief’s (CEPH 14) introduction/ background to justify why improvements to the current policy are a public health priority.

Moreover, I will compare findings from the most recent epidemiologic studies on measles to my evaluation of current State X level measles-related policies (CEPH 15) to explore if measle trends shift with policy changes.
CEPH 15. Evaluate policies for their impact on public health and health equityI will evaluate the current State X level measles-related policies by analyzing how it affects various communities—considering both intended outcomes and unintended consequences—and by emphasizing its implications for equity. My evaluation of (1) the current State X level measle-related policies (CEPH 15) and (2) published, peer-reviewed epidemiologic studies on measles, particularly those focused on State X (EPI 2) will inform the evidence-based improvements to the policy I propose in the research brief.
